Foster Care

In addition to the child and adolescent residential treatment we offer at The Center, we also provide foster care and foster parent training. When a situation requires a child to be removed from his or her biological family, we can place that child with a stable, loving and nurturing foster parent until the family’s issues have been resolved or if the possibility of adoption arises.

Each child and each situation are different, which is why we take the time to get to know every child’s background and family situation. We work closely with our foster parents to ensure the right fit between foster family and child. Foster parents go through extensive training so they can learn how to help children learn healthy ways to cope with stress and how to be more conscious of their behavior. By providing a supportive and safe environment, kids have the chance to focus on academics and often do better in school.

The ultimate goal of our foster care program is to return a child to his or her biological family after treatment goals have been met and the environment is once again safe. Around half of the children placed into foster care through The Center return to their families, while the other half of our cases result in adoption or an arrangement where the foster family cares for the child but the biological parents retain custody.

If you are interested in sharing your heart and home with a foster child, we would love to speak with you. We need foster parents to provide loving, stable homes while families heal. Potential foster parents are required to attend training during the weekends, but The Center can also make alternate arrangements if you aren’t able to attend weekend sessions. We will take the time to learn about your family’s background and what you hope to achieve through fostering a child. We also run background checks and conduct home studies.
