Clinical Utilization Case Manager
» Clinical Utilization Case Manager
Immediate need. Function is to provide a supportive clinical link between the clinical team, the Center and external insurance/case management companies to support justification and documentation of clinical care. Incumbent must review and collate information necessary to support clinical service delivery, and maintain accurate, detailed case management records as required by regulatory agencies/managed care companies, and collect/evaluate data to improve quality of care. Must have excellent organization, verbal, writing/proofreading skills, and numerical/quantitative ability to prepare statistical data. Minimum requirement of 1 year clinical experience in inpatient mental health setting plus active RN license and/or Bachelors in human services field preferred. (Full-time).
» Cook Full-Time
Cook needed immediately for the campus cafeteria to prepare meals per daily menu and oversee operation of the kitchen. Requires weekends/holidays rotation. Minimum of 1-2 years’ experience as a cook in a cafeteria setting preferred. Catering experience a plus. Hourly wage depending on the skills and experience. Hours are 10 am – 6:30 pm daily. Must hold a valid Norfolk Food Handler’s Card. (Full-time)
Candidate must demonstrate skills in general building repairs (painting, drywall, light carpentry), electrical, plumbing and mechanical systems. HVAC experience a plus. Job requires being on-call at least one week per month and may require overtime. DMV driving transcript required. Experience in operating various shop power tools and equipment with knowledge of building mechanical systems desired. Minimum qualifications: high school graduate or equivalent (may be waived depending upon years of experience). Must demonstrate skill in the general maintenance field including plumbing, electrical, carpentry and auto repair. One year experience in the general maintenance field. Job requires average vision, elementary typing and computer skills. Must be capable of carrying 50 pounds up a 12 foot ladder. Demonstrate ability to use various shop power tools. (Full-time)

Residential Counselors provide direct care to our youth to ensure safety and protection of their human rights in accordance with agency policies and procedures. Counselors guide clients to develop necessary skills through role modeling and build therapeutic relationships with clients. Bachelor’s degree in a Human Services field and six (6) months experience working with emotionally disturbed children preferred, but High School diploma + six (6) months experience is a minimum. Registered Nurse (Charge Nurse)
» Registered Nurse
Registered nurse as Charge Nurse needed for the 12 bed residential dorms for children and adolescents. Candidate will provide selected nursing care for emotionally disturbed children and adolescents within the framework of the nursing process and TJC guidelines, the Human Rights Plan and established policies and procedures of the Center per assigned shift. Duties may include admissions, discharges, triage, MD rounds, staffings, medication administration, assessment, de-escalation, therapeutic communication, intervention specific to presenting problem e.g. anxiety, anger, etc. Psychiatric nursing experience preferred. Minimum qualifications include: a graduate of accredited school of nursing; and current status as a Registered Nurse in the state of Virginia required. Day, evening and night shift, includes every other weekend and every other holiday. (Full-time)(Part-time)

When called in for an interview, a current DMV (Department of Motor Vehicles) Driving History Transcript of less than 30 days old MUST be obtained and submitted AT THE TIME OF INTERVIEW. If you recently surrendered or still possess an out-of-state drivers license, please obtain the out-of-state driving record from the applicable state authority. In addition, all other documentation such as educational verification (copy of transcripts and Diploma) and any original license/ certification required for a position must be presented at the time of interview.
When you arrive for an interview:
- Complete the Center’s Application for Employment form. Attach a recent resume with cover letter if available.
- Complete a Child Protective Services (CPS) Request for Search of the Central Registry and Release of Information form.
- Review the job description for the position for which you are applying.
- Review and sign the Job Description Review Acknowledgement form.
All applicants for the following classifications ~ new employee, volunteer, contractual provider, and intern must submit to an extensive criminal background investigation upon interview.
Background checks include:
- Child Protective Services investigation
- Department of Motor Vehicles
- Criminal history investigation which includes fingerprint checks through: State Police, Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI)
Be prepared to complete criminal background investigation documents and be fingerprinted following completion of your interview or return the next day.

The Barry Robinson Center processes payroll using the banking method of direct-deposit. New employees should be prepared on first day of orientation with bank account number, cancelled check or deposit slip.
