Cook Full-Time

» Cook Full-Time
Full-time cook needed immediately for the campus cafeteria to prepare meals per daily menu and oversee operation of the kitchen. Requires weekends/holidays rotation. Minimum of 2-3 years’ experience as a cook in a cafeteria setting preferred. Catering experience a plus. Salary range is $9.25 – $11.75/hour depending on the skills and experience. Hours are 10 am –
6-pm daily, 36-40 hours/week. Must hold a valid Norfolk Food Handler’s Card. (Full-time)

Family Therapist – Clinician II (Licensed)

Licensed clinical therapist needed immediately to provide therapy to our residents, ages 6-17. Current licensure in VA as LCSW, LPC, LMFT or LCP required. Must be able to perform complex diagnostic clinical planning and therapy including individual, family, and group, as well as participate in all treatment team activities. Must be experienced with treating severely emotionally disturbed children or adolescents with demonstrated expertise providing services. Must have Master’s degree in a Human Service curriculum (i.e. social work, psychology or counseling) and 3-4 years of progressively responsible clinical and clinical administrative experience.(Full-time)

Community Liaison (Business Development Rep)

Come join our compassionate team!!  We are looking for a Full time sales//marketing professional as a Business Development Representative for the Northern VA, Washington DC and Maryland areas. Candidate must have working knowledge of business development procedures as well as willingness to learn behavioral health presentations. We work primarily with military families, thus this may be an ideal job for a Military Retired personnel! Team Leader – (Adolescent Boys)

» Team Leader – (Adolescent Boys)
Team Leader will assist the Unit Manager in clinical management of residential program providing supervision to Residential Counselors responsible for the direct care of residents. This position requires 1 shift team leader supervisory duties every other week in addition to direct-care responsibilities in our Residential Adolescent Boys Program mostly in the Evening. Requires supervision of staff, treatment planning, staffing reports, assistance in MD medical rounds, and assistance in communication process with multi-disciplinary team members & outside agencies. Must possess strong leadership, problem solving, communication and team-building skills. Must be able to function independently with minimum supervision. Day/evening rotation every other weekend.  Bachelor’s degree in Human Services field and 2 years professional experience working with children; 1 year must be CRF; or High school diploma or GED with 5 years professional experience working with children; 2 years must be CRF; or A combination of education and experience approved by the lead regulatory authority. Director of Community Living Programs

» Director of Community Living Programs 
Program Director will administer and monitor all functions or the Therapeutic Foster Care Program. Responsible for managing child placing activities, casework services and staff.  Must have Foster Care experience.  Minimum qualifications:  a Doctorate or Master’s degree in social work from a college or university accredited by the Council of Social Work Education, plus three (3) years of experience in providing casework services to children and their families including one (1) year as an administer or supervisor of casework services.  If no Doctorate or Master’s degree in social work, director shall have a Doctorate or Master’s degree in any field related to social work such as, but not limited to sociology, psychology, special education or counseling; and at least four (4) years’ casework service experience with children and families, two (2) of which must be in providing casework services to children and families in a child-placing agency and one (1) year of experience must be as an administrator or supervisor of casework services.  (Full-time)

Floor Tech/Janitor

Immediate opening for a dependable Floor Tech to work with minimum supervision for the main facility to provide carpet care, floor care and general cleaning. Must demonstrate ability to follow directions.  Must be able to lift/push a minimum of 25-30 pounds and have one to two years of experience in the housekeeping field.  Rotating weekends. (Full-Time)

Counselors – Residential

» Residential Counselor
Residential Counselors provide direct care to our youth to ensure safety and protection of their human rights in accordance with agency policies and procedures. Counselors guide clients to develop necessary skills through role modeling and build therapeutic relationships with clients. Bachelor’s degree in a Human Services field and six (6) months experience working with emotionally disturbed children preferred, but High School diploma + six (6) months experience is a minimum. Current DMV transcript of less than 30 days old will be required at time of interview. Every other weekend and every other holiday required. (Full-time) (Part-time) (Sub/Flex)

Nursing

» Charge Nurses
Registered nurse as Charge Nurse needed for the 12 bed residential dorms for children and adolescents. Candidate will provide selected nursing care for emotionally disturbed children and adolescents within the framework of the nursing process and TJC guidelines, the Human Rights Plan and established policies and procedures of the Center per assigned shift. Duties may include admissions, discharges, triage, MD rounds, staffings, medication administration, assessment, de-escalation, therapeutic communication, intervention specific to presenting problem e.g. anxiety, anger, etc. Psychiatric nursing experience preferred. Minimum qualifications include: a graduate of accredited school of nursing; and current status as a Registered Nurse in the state of Virginia required. Day, evening and night shift, includes every other weekend and every other holiday. (Full-time) (Part-time)

Applicants should be prepared to meet the following requirements when applying for a job vacancy
at The Barry Robinson Center.

When called in for an interview, a current DMV (Department of Motor Vehicles) Driving History Transcript of less than 30 days old MUST be obtained and submitted AT THE TIME OF INTERVIEW.  If you recently surrendered or still possess an out-of-state drivers license, please obtain the out-of-state driving record from the applicable state authority.  In addition, all other documentation such as educational verification (copy of transcripts and Diploma) and any original license/ certification required for a position must be presented at the time of interview.

When you arrive for an interview:

  •  Complete the Center’s Application for Employment form. Attach a recent resume with cover letter if available.
  •  Complete a Child Protective Services (CPS) Request for Search of the Central Registry and Release of Information form.
  •  Review the job description for the position for which you are applying.
  •  Review and sign the Job Description Review Acknowledgement form.

All applicants for the following classifications ~ new employee, volunteer, contractual provider, and intern must submit to an extensive criminal background investigation upon interview.

Background checks include:

  • Child Protective Services investigation
  • Department of Motor Vehicles
  • Criminal history investigation which includes fingerprint checks through: State Police, Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI)

Be prepared to complete criminal background investigation documents and be fingerprinted following completion of your interview or return the next day.

If offered a job, new employees must submit proof of eligibility to work in the United States as required by the US Department of Justice INS. ID’s required on 1st day of employment.

The Barry Robinson Center processes payroll using the banking method of direct-deposit.  New employees should be prepared on first day of orientation with bank account number, cancelled check or deposit slip.
