Education

School is traditionally one of the most stressful areas for kids with behavioral issues. At The Center, we have a fully accredited K-12 school. Half our teachers are licensed in special education, while other teachers are licensed in specific content areas. Our goal is to give residents a new outlook on the classroom while they continue their education.

Small Classes, Big Results

With a small class size and a 3:1 ratio of staff to students, we are able to provide in-depth instruction for every single resident. Our educational model blends with our holistic approach to treatment, providing yet another way to reach children and better understand their individual needs.

Our teachers work together with other staff members to provide a 360-degree treatment plan. Staff collaborates to solve problems and seek new and innovative ways to connect children and knowledge. Forming those bridges between the various treatment aspects is what makes The Center such a truly special place. No matter what activity a resident is doing, it is connected to his or her treatment and overall well-being.

Teachers at The Center have the same rigorous academic standards as public schools. They gauge students’ motivations and attitudes and find ways to help them be productive. We also collaborate with a child’s public school teachers and parents to determine what issues the child faced in the classroom so we can find the best setting and curriculum for that child.

Residents take part in a traditional school day and we make every effort to keep them on track with their classmates at their public schools. In the summer, we provide enrichment programs that encourage kids to have fun and learn. From studying nature on our beautiful 32-acre campus to analyzing how machines work in the kitchen. We create a large number of opportunities to explore topics such as science and math.
