Applicant Requirements
Applicants should be prepared to meet the following requirements when applying for a job vacancy
at The Barry Robinson Center.
 When called in for an interview, obtain a current DMV (Department of Motor Vehicles) Driving History Transcript and bring with you to the meeting.
 Complete the Center's Application for Employment form. Attach a recent resume with cover letter if available.
 Complete a Child Protective Services (CPS) Request for Search of the Central Registry and Release of Information form.
 Review the job description for the position for which you are applying.
 Review and sign the Job Description Review Acknowledgement form.
 All applicants for the following classifications ~ new employee, volunteer, contractual provider, and intern must submit to an extensive criminal background investigation upon interview. Newly hired employees will be expected to share in the cost of background investigation processing fees. The amount of $37.00 will be payroll deducted from the employees first paycheck.
    Background checks include:
  • Child Protective Services investigation
  • Department of Motor Vehicles (at/or points better than -3 acceptable)
  • Criminal history investigation which includes fingerprint checks through:
    • State Police
    • Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI)
  • Be prepared to complete criminal background investigation documents and be fingerprinted following completion of your interview or return the next day.
  • If offered a job, new employees must submit proof of eligibility to work in the United States as required by the US Department of Justice INS.  Listing of acceptable identification is on the reverse side of this page.  ID's required on 1st day of employment.

 The Barry Robinson Center processes payroll using the banking method of direct-deposit.  New employees should be prepared on first day of orientation with bank account number, cancelled check or deposit slip.

    Admissions
Director of Admissions - Immediate need for a Director of Admissions to supervise and oversee the admission process for specified programs.  Candidate will assure department operations are in compliance with regulatory and Joint Commission standards and guidelines, comply with policies and procedures to ensure integrated departmental operation, assure provision of financial coverage for all clients admitted, and chair Admission Committee to review client cases.  Requires experience with state Medicaid standards for behavioral healthcare.  Degree in health care field with minimum of 2 years direct Admissions experience required.  (Full-time)
     Clinical Therapies
Art Therapist - Art Therapist position available.  Demonstrated ability to provide individual and group therapy and art therapy assessments for children and adolescents with severe emotional/behavior disorders required.  Must posess demonstrated ability to function on a treatment team.  Education:  Master's degree from an accredited Art Therapy Program~licensed prefered, (LCSW)(LPC)(LMFT) license eligible, with 2 years post Master's experience considered.  Early evening hours required, may require some weekends.  (Full-time)

Licensed Clinician - Position currently available in the Clinical Therapies Department.  Must be able to perform complex diagnostic clinical planning and therapy including individual, group, family therapy, crisis intervention, perform clinical case management, and clinical administration, as well as participate on all treatment team activities.  Must be experienced with treating severely emotionally disturbed children or adolescents.  Occasional evening and weekend availability required.  Eligible for full benefits pachage including health, dental, 403(b) retirement, sick/vacation and professional development.  (Full-time)


     Community Living Program
Case Work Supervisor - The Treatment Foster Care Program is seeking a Case Work Supervisor to provide oversight to the Case Management staff.  Prior treatment foster care experience and prior supervisory experience are vital to job performance.  Responsibilities include direct supervision of select case work staff, oversight of caseload allocation and clinical documentation, monitoring of fiscal authorization, and assuring adherence to regulatory guidelines.  Excellent oral and written skills necessary.  Master's degree preferred; Backelor's with four years experience considered.  (Full-time)

Emergency Foster Care Lead Case Worker - Immediate opening.  Responsibilities incoude providing 24-hour response to placing children in private foster homes on an emergency basis, supervising children and families, and associated case manatement responsibilities to ensure stability of the placement.  Master's degree in social work or related field preferred, Bachelor's degree considered.  Foster Care experience preferred, marketing skills desired.  (Full-time)

Foster Care Case Worker - The Community Living Programs has a Foster Care Case Worker position available.  Candidate provides case management, supervision, individual and family counseling, support services to children and foster families.  Responsibilities include:  charting/documentation, helping clients gain/access community resources and services, supervising clients and foster families.  Candidate with experience in providing training in a group format preferred.  Marketing skills strongly desired.  MSW or related field preferred, BSW considered.  (Full-time)

Independepent Living Program Worker - Immediate opening for Independent Living Program Worker.  Responsibilities include assistance to caseworkers and program director in providing supportive services to youth in a community residence setting to help clients become self-reliant in daily living.  Clients include males and females ages 16-21 and pregnant females.  One (1) year experience working with children and families and Associates degree in related field preferred.  (Sub/PRN-flexible hours)(Part-time, Midnight shift, 11pm-7am, three (3) days/week ~ Wednesday, Thursday and Friday)


    Education
Special Ed Teacher - Responsibilities include providing educaitonal services, assessing student progress, managing student behavior, participating on multi-disciplinary team and providing required documentation.  Bachelor's degree in Education or related field required.  Two or more years experience working with special education students preferred.  Candidate must be eligible for VA licensure in Special Education (ED/LD/MR).  (Full-time)

    HomeBase Services Program
InHome Counselor - Positions available in the homeBase Services department to provide individual and family therapy to youth and their families.  Master's degree in social work, psychology or related field preferred.  Full-time positions are available based on sustained census and satisfactory completion of position requirements within a probationary period.  (Full-time)(Part-time))Sub/Flex)

   Marketing


Marketing Representative - Candidate must be a highly motivated, enthusisatic professional, possess excellent communication skills and comprehensive knowledge of growth and development in children, adolescents, and developmentally disabled youth.  Must have familiarity with mental health systems, and the ability to design and implement effective marketing and public relation strategies.  Position will require flexibility in schedule and ability to travel extensively.  Responsibilities include public presentations to various audiences, coordination, completion, and presentation of clinical interviews with potential BRC clients and referring parties, and serves on various community committees as a representative of The Barry Robinson Center.  Bachelor's degree with 2 years prior experience in a health related field required.         (Full-time)

   Nursing
LPN/RN - Position available in the Nursing Department.  Candidate will provide selected nursing care for emotionally disturbed children and adolescents within the framework of the nursing process, CORE and JCAHO guidelines, the Human Rights Plan and established policies and procedures of the Center per assigned shift.  Competitive salary and excellent benefit package offered.  Psychiatric nursing experience prefered.  Day/Evening shifts including every other weekend and every other holiday.  (Part-time or Full-time, 20-40 hours per week)


   Prevention


 Clerical Assistant - The Prevention Department has a clerical position available.  Candidate is responsible for administrative support including coordination of correspondence, activities, medical forms and information for submission to billing office, scheduling apointments, data entry and maintaining office supplies.  Requires extensive knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office computer programs (Power Point/Excel/Word) and basic office principles to include filing, faxing, etc.  The incumbent will also possess the ability to follow directions, work independently with minimal supervision, and pay strict attention to detail to ensure quality work.  The incumbent will also be aware of the nature of confidentiality issues with regard to knowledge of students' names and other personal family information and display strict compliance with such regulations and procedures.  Minimum of 3+ years experience required.  (Sub/flex, 8-10 hours per week)

   Requirements for Residential Counselor positions include: 
      1)  Bachelor's degree in a Human Services field
      2)  Six months experience working with emotionally disturbed children preferred
 
Campus Coordinator Midnights - Candidate to serve as supervisor and primary resource person regarding campus safety needs and clinical issues regarding residential clients.  Requires Bachelor's degree in Human Services with 2 years experience working with children and adolescents in a mental health setting.  (Part-time, 16 hours every other weekend ~ Midnight shift)
