Deciding to place a child in residential treatment can be grueling for parents. Recently, Rob McCartney, The Barry Robinson Center’s CEO, offered helpful and encouraging advice for parents who are considering residential treatment.
McCartney was a guest on the For the Sake of the Child podcast produced by the Military Child Education Coalition. The 37-minute episode premiered earlier in June and is available on iTunes, Google Podcasts and Podbean.
The episode is aptly titled, “Message of Hope for Parents Seeking the Right Residential Treatment Program for their Military Child.”
From its work with families, BRC knows that parents looking for a residential treatment program for their child or teen often feel hopeless, overwhelmed, confused and consumed with questions.
During the podcast, McCartney helps explain a process parents can follow to evaluate and find the best option for their child. He shares questions parents can ask when reviewing treatment centers and advises what to look for in treatment programs.
McCartney also leaves listeners with hope, as he shares a personal story about a parent’s experience at BRC.
