Thirty people with a combined 300 years of service to improve the lives of children. People who represent commitment, excellence, endurance and considerable knowledge and history.
The Barry Robinson Center honored these 2018 service award recipients in early February during the Center’s Winterfest and Employee Appreciation banquet. But the event also celebrated every employee in the room.
“When people ask, ‘who is Barry Robinson?’ just look in the mirror,” said CEO Rob McCartney, as he thanked all the employees. “You are Barry Robinson.”
Employees received recognition for service in five-year increments, for five years of service all the way to some of the Center’s longest-serving employees at 20, 25 and 30 years.

As each person came forward to be recognized, their supervisor spoke and highlighted some of their specific contributions to the Center. Their accolades emphasized the employees’ dedication to work, willingness to help colleagues, excellence in job performance, and most importantly, their commitment to helping children and families.
The employees recognized represent departments across the organization. Education, nursing, nutrition, counseling, recreation, maintenance, human resources and administration – employees in each department who work together to provide a safe, nurturing, therapeutic environment that sets children and teens on the path to healing.

The event kicked off with an interactive trivia quiz about The Barry Robinson Center. Dinner, dancing and door prizes combined for a memorable evening that already has people looking forward to next year.
“Yes it was the BEST!! I enjoyed myself immensely! I don’t get out much, but this event will make up for ALL OF THAT and then some,” said one employee. “Thank you for all the hard work that went into making this happen. Everyone stepped out in ‘class,’ and the fellowship was wonderful.”
A 30-year employees expressed her appreciation. “Thanks everyone for all your hard work planning last night’s celebration. I can’t think of a better way to celebrate my 30 years at Barry Robinson. Congratulations to all who received awards!”

Other comments: “This was a fantastic event! Wow, we without a doubt have a beautiful family, and everyone looked amazing! So much fun, and besides seeing all the great folks receive awards, the dancing was the BEST! Thanks, team for all the hard work to make this happen.”
