Working one-on-one with a therapist in a safe environment helps our residents process feelings and learn strategies for managing their behaviors. Our therapists are trained to help children and teens explore their thoughts, feelings, habits and experiences to gain a better understanding about themselves. Individual therapy takes work and is not a “quick fix.” Over time, residents can learn to better manage symptoms stemming from anxiety and mood disorders. They can work through negative emotions, improve relationships and improve their ability to function in school and during other activities. Typically, a resident participates in individual therapy sessions twice each week. Our therapists use a variety of therapy methods, based on each resident’s needs.
