Norfolk, VA – November 10, 2025, The Barry Robinson Center (BRC) is honored to announce that it has been chosen as the 2026 National Welfare Project of the Year by the Navy Wives Clubs of America, Inc. (NWCA), the only national nonprofit organization comprised of all military branches, military spouses, and civilians.
Founded in 1936 and federally chartered by the U.S. Congress in 1984, NWCA unites sea service enlisted spouses through bonds of friendship, mutual assistance, and community service. With 18 active clubs across the United States, the organization’s members dedicate their efforts each year to a national welfare project that supports the broader military community.
During the 2025 national convention, the NWCA delegation voted to select The Barry Robinson Center as this year’s National Welfare Project. The Center, located in Norfolk, Virginia, is the nation’s only residential treatment program 100% dedicated to military-connected youth and their families.
Through this partnership, NWCA clubs nationwide will highlight BRC’s mission and impact across their social media platforms, newsletters, and publications, while individual clubs are encouraged to contribute in support of the Center’s programs and services.
“We are deeply grateful for this recognition from the Navy Wives Clubs of America,” said Rob McCartney, CEO, The Barry Robinson Center. “Their commitment to serving military families aligns beautifully with our own mission of improving the lives of children and their families.”
NWCA’s National Welfare Project designation not only brings national attention to The Barry Robinson Center’s specialized care for military-connected youth but also reflects a shared dedication to strengthening military families and the communities they call home.
